We have updated our privacy policy. By continuing, you are agreeing to our terms.

All information provided about the law is very general in nature and should not be relied upon as legal advice. Every situation is different and should be analyzed by a lawyer who can provide individualized advice based on the facts involved in your unique situation, and a consideration of all of the nuances of the statutes and case law that apply at the time.

What is an ombudsman?

An ombudsman is a person designated to investigate complaints against the nursing home.

The ombudsman is unaffiliated with the nursing home, and will therefore not have a stake in covering up any abuse or neglect allegations. The nursing home should have signs clearly labeled to indicate the name and contact information of the ombudsman assigned to that specific facility. If you suspect abuse or neglect, contact the designated ombudsman immediately.
