Head-On Collision Leaves Three Dead in Donalsonville, Georgia

DONALSONVILLE, GA. – October 3, 2018 ( According to an online news report from, a head-on collision October 2 in Donalsonville, Georgia, caused the deaths of three people.* 

At approximately 11:53 a.m., 62-year-old Kenneth Scarborough, of Columbus, Georgia, was driving a 1999 GMC Sierra northbound on Ga. 91 in Donalsonville. Near the area of Grady Cobb Road and the Miller County line, Scarborough crossed the centerline of the roadway and crashed into a southbound 2019 Kia Soul head-on. 

Scarborough died at the scene. The driver of the Kia, 74-year-old Paul Dukes, of Damascus, Georgia, also died at the scene. A passenger in the Kia, 75-year-old Annie Price, of Colquitt, Georgia, was airlifted to a nearby hospital with critical injuries. She died of her injuries later that day. 

The Georgia Department of Transportation reported that both lanes of Ga. 91 were shut down for about two hours after the crash to allow crews to tend to the victims and clear the wreckage. Georgia State Patrol is investigating the incident and has not released additional information at this time. It is not yet clear why Scarborough crossed the centerline of the road. 

Head-on vehicle collisions represent a small number of the accidents that occur every year in the United States, but they account for a larger percentage of traffic deaths in the country. About 2 percent of all the accidents in the U.S. involve head-on collisions, but these types of accidents cause approximately 10 percent of the nation’s crash-related deaths. Because of the force and nature of these accidents, they lead to more serious injuries and more deaths than many other types of vehicle accidents.
