Georgia Woman Tragically Killed in an I-95 Accident in St. Augustine, Florida (FL)

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL - A news report posted on reports that the Florida Highway Patrol put out a news release about a fatal auto accident involving a 63-year-old woman from McDonough, Georgia.*

The tragic, fatal accident occurred last Tuesday afternoon after her SUV that she was driving was rear-ended by an 18-wheeler tractor-trailer truck in St. Augustine, Florida.

According to the news report, the Georgia woman was heading southbound along I-95 south of State Road 16.  She was driving in the center lane of Interstate 95.  At approximately 4:10 pm, a semi-tractor-trailer truck, operated by a 46-year-old Jacksonville man, was traveling behind the victim, southbound in the center lane.  According to the report, the big rig truck crashed into the rear-end of the SUV, hurling the victim's SUV into the center median of I-95, where it hit a guardrail.

The victim was thrown from her SUV, according to the news report.  She was transported to Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine, Florida.  The Georgia woman was tragically pronounced dead at the hospital. 

The truck driver who had his seatbelt on was transported to Flagler Hospital with injuries and is expected to survive.  

The Florida Highway Patrol is hoping to speak with those individuals who may have seen the collision.  Witnesses are encouraged to contact the Florida Highway Patrol.  The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating the fatal trucking accident.  No names were made public due to Florida's Marsay's Law.  No criminal charges have been filed at this time, pending the outcome of the investigation.
