Atlanta Car Accident Attorneys, Montlick & Associates, Reviews Long-Term Success of GOHS "Click It or Ticket Campaign" in Georgia

In the video at the top of the page, the Atlanta Car Accident Attorneys from Montlick & Associates review the long-term success of "Click It or Ticket", a national safety campaign that encourages seat belt usage among drivers and their passengers. The 2014 Click It of Ticket campaign is a collaboration between the Georgia Governor's Office of Highway Safety (GOHS), local law enforcement and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Since the campaign's launch in 1993, seat belt usage has risen from an average of 58% nationally to 84%. The compliance rate is even higher in Georgia, which has a Primary Seat Belt Enforcement Law. In Georgia, seat belt usage is close to 90%. Not surprisingly, the number of unrestrained passenger fatalities has also declined since the launch of Click It or Ticket in 1993.

According to the CDC, motor vehicle crashes kill more people in the first three decades of life than any other cause. Using seat belts reduces the risk of dying in a crash by about 45%. Child safety seats reduce fatal injury by 71% among infants and by 54% among toddlers. Belt-positioning booster seats reduce the risk for injury by 59% compared with seat belts alone.

Georgia's Primary Seat Belt Law allows law enforcement officers to ticket drivers and passengers for not wearing their seat belt, without any other traffic offense taking place. In Georgia, all adults aged 18 and older must wear a seat belt when riding in the front seats (driver's seat or passenger seat) of a passenger vehicle.

For 30 years, the Atlanta Car Accident Attorneys at Montlick & Associates have made it their goal to be the best personal injury law firm in the United States. Each state has its own laws as to what can be recovered as damages in these types of serious accidents. In Georgia, for example, a person injured by the carelessness of another has a right to compensation for pain and suffering, reimbursement for medical bills and lost wages incurred due to the accident, and in some cases punitive damages. There are many different sources of possible recovery for accident victims, and it is important that they all are identified.
