GEORGIA – According to a truck accident story on wjcl.com, a truck driver was killed in a tragic accident involving two tractor-trailer trucks on I-16.*

The Georgia State Patrol has announced that on January 28, 2021, a call was received by the Georgia State Patrol Post 42 Rincon requesting an investigation into a fatal truck accident on Interstate 16 East by the 151-mile marker in Chatham County, Georgia.

The Georgia State Patrol’s preliminary accident investigation reports that a tractor-trailer truck was traveling eastbound in the right lane of Interstate 16. That truck then struck another 18-wheeler from behind.

Interstate-16 Eastbound was shut down for around seven hours while medical crews and law enforcement officers worked the accident scene from 12:00 p.m. to around 7:00 p.m. All traffic was rerouted by the Georgia Department of Transportation as law enforcement officers investigated the accident. The Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team was also helping Georgia State Patrol Post 42 Rincon with their trucking accident investigation. The accident victim is a 35-year-old woman from Savannah, Georgia. The accident is currently under investigation.
