One Person in Critical Condition After Three-Car Accident in Smyrna, Georgia (GA)
SMYRNA, GA. — Police are attempting to contact the family of the operator of a motor vehicle involved in a head-on crash in Smyrna. According to 11alive.com, at least two of the three vehicles in the severe collision appeared to have collided head-on. The accident happened on South Cobb Drive in Smyrna and shut down the road for hours. Smyrna Police and troopers from the Georgia State Patrol responded to the scene. Investigators have not determined what caused the violent crash and are still combing through evidence to reach a conclusion. The medical status of the motorist reported to be in critical condition is not known at this time. *
Smyrna Police Accident investigators told the media that the exact location of the crash was located at South Cobb Drive, near the intersections of the East-West Connector and South Cobb Industrial. 11alive.com news crews arrived at the scene of the crash and found two cars that appear to have crashed head-on. The news crew did not report on the location of the third vehicle except to say that a third car was involved.
There was no information forthcoming from the Smyrna Police or the Georgia Patrol regarding the number of victims, the nature of their injuries, and to which medical facility rescue crews transported them. Law enforcement officers did say that one of the patients was in critical condition but did not provide any more specific details about that person’s condition.
Additionally, there was no information available from either the Smyrna Police or the investigating troopers from the Georgia Patrol concerning what caused the accident. Law enforcement authorities did not discuss whether alcohol might have played a role in the accident.
