Important Holiday Car Care Tips presented by Georgia Accident Attorneys, Montlick & Associates

Holidays often mean extended road trips; visiting out of town relatives for example, or perhaps taking a much-needed family vacation. In the rush to get ready for a big trip, however, many drivers overlook basic safety precautions, including routine car care that can help you prevent breakdowns and avoid serious car accidents. In fact, research indicates that eight out of ten vehicles on the road are in need of some kind of maintenance. That's why the Georgia Accident Attorneys at Montlick & Associates want to remind everyone about these important maintenance tips, and why we created our Holiday Road Safety Checklist to download and keep in your car.

Before you get on the road this holiday, please remember to:

  • Check your vehicle's fluids. This includes engine oil, power steering, brake, transmission fluids, and also your windshield washer solvent, and coolant.
  • Check hoses and belts to make sure none are cracked, brittle, frayed or loose.
  • Check your tires' air pressure and treads. Look for any uneven wear that could signal the need for a wheel alignment. Tires should also be checked for any bulges or bald spots.

These are just a few of the basic car maintenance procedures that should be performed routinely, and also before any extended trip. For more detailed information, please refer to this really helpful Car Care Guide.
