The City of Atlanta, Georgia, was recently placed in the top 15 in a list of U.S. cities with the most vehicle accidents, according to an online story from allongeorgia.com. Atlanta appeared in the No. 15 spot, just barely making the top 15. This was the only city in Georgia that was in the top 25.

In a report from QuoteWizard, which is an online automobile insurance comparison tool, a ranked list shows which cities in the United States have the most vehicle accidents. QuoteWizard used more than 1 million types of data points regarding vehicle crashes, which included accident information from consumers that was self-reported. QuoteWizard then used this information to rank cities based on their accident data, with the No. 1 city having the most crashes.

People are at risk of being involved in a vehicle accident anywhere they might drive, but it looks like some cities are definitely more accident-prone than others. Atlanta was in the top 15 for most vehicle crashes, appearing at No. 15, one spot higher than San Diego, California, and one spot lower than New York, New York. No other cities in Georgia were inside of the top 25.

The city with the highest number of vehicle accidents, based on the QuoteWizard data, was Columbus, Ohio. The city falling at No. 25 was Birmingham, Alabama. South Carolina had three cities in the top 25 — Charlotte, Columbia, and Greenville — and California had the most cities in the top 25, including Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Diego, Bakersfield, and Riverside.

The top 10 cities in the list included:

  1. Columbus, Ohio
  2. St. Louis, Missouri
  3. Los Angeles, California
  4. Sacramento, California
  5. New Orleans, Louisiana
  6. Charlotte, South Carolina
  7. Columbia, South Carolina
