ATLANTA, GA- A recent study reviewed the most dangerous roads in Georgia to find the places where car crashes are more likely to occur during the summer months, according to PATCH.COM. The researchers evaluated data from 2015, 2016, and 2017 to come to their conclusions. The road that topped the list was Interstate 75, where 111 people were killed in crashes during the summer months in those three years. The next deadliest road was Interstate 20, where 55 deaths occurred, followed by Interstate 16, which saw 35 fatalities. Interstate 95 ran through multiple states and made its way into the top three deadliest place to drive in eight separate states.*

While driving can be hazardous in winter largely because of snow and slippery roads, it is important to remember that summer creates its own roadway hazards. Among the dangers of summer, new teen drivers are also on the road in higher numbers as they are out of school. Other risks include road trips and travel to crowded places like beaches, cause more traffic on the road.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), one way to improve your safety on the road is to ensure that your vehicle is in good working order. It is important to check the tires, the lights, the cooling system, belts, fluid levels, hoses, air conditioning, wiper blades, and floor mats.

While the necessary maintenance requirements depend on the vehicle, failing to maintain a vehicle can cause the warranty to become void, and can lead to the car failing and putting you and others in the vehicle at risk.
