Future Leaders of America Scholarship

Each year Montlick proudly awards one outstanding Atlanta high school student with an opportunity to attend the Washington Workshops’ Congressional Seminar as part of the “Future Leaders of America” scholarship program.

About this Program

The scholarship covers the scholars’ round trip airfare, tuition, room and board and transportation in and around Washington to attend the workshops and study national politics and government over the summer break. Attending the workshops is an opportunity of a lifetime for young scholars wishing to pursue a career in law or public policy. Students hear from guest speakers on the Legislative Branch and Federal Government, meet U.S. Senators and Representatives, visit the National Mall, Mount Vernon, The Pentagon, and the memorials and monuments of Washington, D.C. and receive valuable hands-on learning through Legislative Case Studies and The Model Congress Simulation.

Since 2013, the firm has partnered with the Fulton County Superior Court committee to identify and award students with the Montlick Scholarships. “We are delighted to continue our commitment of giving back and sponsoring the ‘Future Leaders of America’ scholarship program. We are so proud of all the winners and their accomplishments, and hope the experience they gain at the workshops in Washington D.C will leave a deep and lasting imprint on their future career,” said David Montlick.

Hear from some of our previous scholarship recipients about their experiences below:

“Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be a part of The Washington Workshop, I am honored to have been invited by Montlick to this selective group. On behalf of the many people who benefit from your initiative, congratulations for the wonderful program you have in place.

During my time in Washington DC I got the chance to learn more about the history of our country and was able to meet bright individuals with interests similar to my own, who inspired me to learn more about the law system. I loved the tight schedule filled with entertaining and intellectual activities.

I will always remember the people I met and experiences we shared. It’s been a privilege to represent Holy Spirit Preparatory School along with Montlick at such a highly competent group of young future leaders.”

July 24, 2019, Camila Del Bosque, Montlick 2019 Scholarship Recipient

“My trip to Washington D.C. was an amazing experience that provided me with many opportunities. Not only was I able to visit all the museums and memorials in Washington D.C., I was able to attend the Supreme Court and sit in on a session of Congress where they discussed voting on a bill. Furthermore, I had the chance to meet and talk to my representative, Tom Price.

Washington Workshops provided us with many speakers who spoke on a variety of issues that currently affect us, and the program chaperones were very knowledgeable about the city. It was interesting to be in Washington D.C. after I had just completed my year-long AP U.S. History course as well as my AP U.S. Government and Politics and AP Comparative Politics courses. The information I learned from these courses gave me a lot of perspective when I visited the museums and memorials and when I listened to the various speakers. I am very grateful for this experience because not only did I fun, but I also came out of the experience a much more politically informed person.”
