Montlick & Associates, Attorneys at Law is proud to honor Marcus Sayles from Johns Creek, Georgia, as the "2011 Montlick & Associates' Athlete of the Year." On game night Marcus is rarely off the field excelling as a wide receiver and a defensive back for the Chattahoochee High School Cougars. Those who know him best say Marcus achieves goals both in the classroom and on the field. Coach Terry Crowder says, "It's very rare that you have such a good player that practices so hard. That is what he does, he leads by example." Marcus and his teammates are already winners as they were recently named the 2011 Regional Champions. The Montlick and Associates' Athlete of the Year has big plans for after graduation. "My top three colleges are Southern Mississippi, West Virginia and Troy; and I want to major in sports management," says Marcus.
In honor of Marcus and his achievement as the 2011 Athlete of the Year, Montlick & Associates donated $5000 to Chattahoochee High School. "We hope this donation will allow the faculty and staff at Chattahoochee High School to continue their efforts in providing an academic environment in which students can prosper and achieve their potential," says Founder and CEO David Montlick. Assistant Principal Tim Corrigan expressed his appreciation for the donation and said that for a school to receive $5,000 was like winning the jackpot.
The Montlick & Associates "Athlete of the Year" is part of a season long partnership with WSB-TV Channel 2. During the regular 2011 football season, Montlick & Associates and WSB-TV Channel 2 partnered to recognize student athletes who excel both on and off the field in the Montlick & Associates' Athlete of the Week. At the end of the season, the public voted online for the athlete they believed was most deserving of the top honor. The three Athletes of the Week that received the highest number of votes were named Finalists, and then the WSB-TV Sports Team selected the Montlick & Associates' Athlete of the Year.
We want to congratulate all the athletes on their achievements this football season. Be sure to watch all 11 athletes and their amazing accomplishments in the weekly Sports Zone News Segments below.
