Atlanta Personal Injury Lawyer, Montlick & Associates, Shares Important Reminders about Georgia's Move Over Law

In July 2003, Georgia joined a growing number of states in enacting a "Move Over" Law. Yet a recent poll indicates that less than 30 percent of people know about this law. To help spread the word, Atlanta Personal Injury Lawyer, Montlick & Associates, partnered with ABC News to produce the video above. The Georgia law firm also created this Guide to Georgia's Move Over Law - What Drivers Need to Know! to promote better public awareness and greater compliance.

Georgia's Move Over law was designed to reduce the number of injuries and fatalities to police officers, paramedics, firefighters and Dept. of Transportation employees while on the job. The law also protects drivers who are pulled over by police, or who are being administered to by the paramedics or other emergency responders. Montlick & Associates Founder and CEO, David Montlick, believes others will benefit as well: "Georgia's Move Over Law is really designed to make our highways safer for everyone. But it must be understood and adhered to in order to be effective". The law requires all drivers to move over one lane away from the side of the road where an emergency or law enforcement vehicle is stopped - as long as it is safe to do so. If it is not safe to move over to the next lane, drivers must slow down and be prepared to stop. When moving over, drivers should remember to always check mirrors for other vehicles, including any blind spots, and to use turn signals and allow sufficient space when making the lane change.

For more than 35 years, the Atlanta Personal Injury Lawyers at Montlick & Associates have made it their goal to be the best personal injury law firm in the United States. The law firm represents families and individuals who suffer from catastrophic injuries, in all types of cases involving wrongful conduct and wrongful death, including those involving crashes with cars, SUVs, buses, tractor-trailers and other commercial vehicles. Each state has its own laws as to what can be recovered as damages in these types of serious accidents. In Georgia, for example, a person injured by the carelessness of another has a right to compensation for pain and suffering, reimbursement for medical bills and lost wages incurred due to the accident, and in some cases punitive damages. There are many different sources of possible recovery for accident victims, and it is important that they all are identified.

Our Atlanta Personal Injury Law Firm is available to assist clients throughout all of Georgia and the Southeast, including but not limited to Albany, Athens, Atlanta, Augusta, Columbus, Gainesville, Macon, Marietta, Rome, Roswell, Savannah, Smyrna, Valdosta, Warner Robins and all smaller cities and rural areas in the state.
