A Lowndes County Deputy recently lost his life in an accident that occurred while he was responding to a call, according to WCTV. Our Atlanta Personal Injury Lawyer reports that a deputy tragically died when his patrol car struck a tractor-trailer that crossed into his path at an intersection. Charges are pending against the driver of the truck. Witnesses pulled Butler from the burning wreck, and he was transported to an area hospital, where he died of his injuries. The intersection where this tragic crash happened has been the site of two other wrecks within just the past few months.
Deputy Dies in Crash While Responding to Call
According to WCTV.TV, Lowndes County Deputy Chris Butler died in a local hospital after witnesses pulled him from a fiery wreck that occurred when a tractor-trailer crossed the path of his oncoming patrol car. The Deputy was on his way to a domestic violence call when the crash happened.
Dangerous Intersections and Distracted Driving Can Cause Accidents
While the exact details of the cause of the aforementioned accident have not been released, it is possible that the intersection where the crash occurred played at least some role in the wreck. Area residents noted that the intersection had been the site of two other accidents within just the past couple of months. It is possible that the intersection is, for some reason, becoming a place where there is an increased accident risk.
Some intersections and stretches of road are known for posing an increased accident risk to motorists who are passing through. You may have seen areas along the road or at an intersection where numerous wooden crosses or other roadside memorials mark the sites of multiple fatalities, all within the same area.
Whether there is a confusing traffic pattern, poor visibility, or a busy intersection, drivers must be alert at all times for things that could, quite literally, throw them off course.
Contact an Attorney Today to Schedule Your Consultation
If you were injured in a car accident that was caused by a negligent driver, you might wonder what to do next. In addition to seeking medical attention to receive care for your injuries, you can file a claim for damages with your insurance company. However, be aware that insurance companies are not often quick to settle claims for amounts that will adequately compensate those who have been hurt in a crash for all of the damages that they sustained as the result of the accident. Individuals who work with an Atlanta personal injury lawyer to pursue claims for damages often obtain better results more quickly than people who attempt to pursue claims for damages on their own. Contact our attorneys at Montlick and Associates to learn about your legal rights as well as what steps are necessary to protect those rights.
