Kathryn Cozzo Patterson, Esq., brings over two decades of legal, mediation and educational experience to her role as Legal Content Counsel at Montlick Injury Attorneys. Her mission is simple yet essential: to empower individuals with clear, accurate and compassionate legal guidance.
A graduate of Mercer Law School, Kathryn has been licensed to practice in Georgia since 1998. From the start of her career, Kathryn stood out as a strong and principled advocate, respected for being both tough in the courtroom and compassionate with those she serves. During her eight years as an Assistant District Attorney (ADA) in Cobb County, Kathryn gained extensive trial experience, strengthening her ability to manage fast-moving, high-stakes legal matters with clarity and strategic insight. As lead trial counsel, she successfully prosecuted and tried to a jury a wide range of serious felony criminal cases—including homicide, vehicular homicide, armed robbery, aggravated assault, fraud, and complex drug offenses, such as drug trafficking.
In 2012, Kathryn transitioned into mediation and is a registered neutral with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution. Since then, she has worked to resolve a wide range of personal injury disputes—wrongful death, auto and trucking accidents, and defective product injuries—through collaborative mediation. Her experience gives her a rare dual perspective: she understands how to litigate aggressively, when necessary, but also how to guide cases toward fair, efficient resolution when possible.
Kathryn’s passion for legal education runs deep. She served as an Instructor at Kennesaw State University’s (KSU) Paralegal Program where she developed curriculum and taught Criminal Law and Legal Research & Writing. She guided law students in courtrooms under Georgia’s Third Year Practice Act and continues mentoring young attorneys through local bar association programs.
As Legal Content Counsel at Montlick, Kathryn brings legal insight and a uniquely well-rounded perspective to the legal challenges clients face. She transforms complex legal topics into clear, accessible resources that empower individuals with accurate, trustworthy guidance across all core practice areas. From personal injury claims and class action lawsuits to evolving litigation topics, Kathryn ensures Montlick’s content remains aligned with Georgia and federal law—reinforcing the firm’s commitment to clarity, compliance, and justice.
Kathryn’s commitment to justice isn’t just professional, it’s personal. In her early twenties, she survived a serious car accident that left a lasting impact both physically and emotionally. She knows all too well the uncertainty and fear that can follow a traumatic event. This experience drives her commitment to advocate for victims of negligence and to give them a voice in an often overwhelming legal system. During her years as an ADA, Kathryn fought for crime victims – not unlike the fight that Montlick attorneys engage in every day for the victims of someone else’s negligence. Working closely for years with those who have been injured, Kathryn finds meaning in guiding people through the legal process with empathy and clear focus.
A dedicated community volunteer and soccer enthusiast, Kathryn has lived in the Atlanta area for over 40 years and now calls Historic Marietta her home. Since 2020, she has served on the executive board of the Marietta Blue Devil Soccer Goal Club and served as President from 2023-2025.
In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her husband and daughter, biking, working to keep flowers alive in her garden, and cheering from the sidelines at soccer matches.
