Atlanta, Georgia Auto Accident Lawyer Reminds Drivers About the New Texting Law and Penalties Involved.

Texting while driving has become a serious safety issue that affects everyone on the road, and is now against the law in the state of Georgia. Under Senate Bill 360 the new Georgia texting law states: "No person shall operate a motor vehicle on any public road or highway of this state while using a wireless telecommunications device to write, send, or read any text based communication, including but not limited to a text message, instant message, e-mail, or Internet data."  The fine for violation of the law is set by statute at $150.00 and one point on the driver's record, according to the Georgia Department of Public Safety. However, the greatest penalty could be loss of life. Texting while driving is a deadly practice that endangers yourself, passengers and all others on the road.

Auto Accident Lawyers Montlick & Associates has been helping people injured in car, truck and motorcycle accidents for over a quarter of a century, including accidents that were caused by texting while driving, and using a cell phone while driving.
