Atlanta Auto Accident Attorneys, Montlick & Associates, Reviews Important Shopping Tips to Help You Stay Safe This Holiday Season

Whether you plan to shop in the malls and stores or prefer to shop online, there are a number of safety precautions you can take to prevent theft or injury while shopping. That's why the Atlanta Car Accident Attorneys from Montlick & Associates created the video posted at the top of this page to help people stay safe and have a happy holiday season.

While you may have a lot to get accomplished in a short amount of time, take a few minutes to review the following safety tips before you head out:

  • It's important to stay alert to your surroundings.
  • Remember to park your vehicle in well-lighted areas and to always have your keys in hand when approaching your vehicle.
  • To discourage purse-snatchers, don't overburden yourself with other bags. Carrying too many packages makes you more vulnerable.
  • After shopping, be sure to lock your packages in the trunk or hidden compartment of the car, keeping them out of plain site.
  • Try to avoid talking on your cellphone while shopping or walking to and from your car. Being distracted will make you an easy target for criminals.

If you choose to avoid the crowds and the roads by shopping online this season, be mindful of the following:

  • Keep your personal information private and your password secure.
  • Beware of “bargains” from companies with whom you are unfamiliar - if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
  • Use secure websites for purchases. Look for the icon of a locked padlock at the bottom of the screen or “https” in the URL address.

"Being aware of the potential risks before shopping this holiday season is important. The more you can do to avoid theft or injuries, the better,” says Montlick & Associates’ CEO and Founder, David Montlick. “Keep you and your family safe by recognizing potentially dangerous situations, and be especially vigilant when shopping with children. However you decide to shop this holiday season, we hope that you take these important steps to stay safe and enjoy the season.”

The Atlanta Car Accident Attorneys from Montlick & Associates also reminds you that when shopping with children, make a plan in case you are separated from each other. Select a central meeting place, and teach kids to know they can ask mall personnel or store security employees if they need help.
