Atlanta Injury Attorneys, Montlick & Associates, Issues Urgent Safety Warning to Parents and Caregivers Regarding Recent Recall of Select Graco Child Seats

The official recall of about 3.7 million Graco child seats from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) was issued in February 2014. One month later, more than 400,000 additional child seats were added to the recall list. Many parents and caregivers are still unaware of the recall and the safety issue related to the faulty harness buckles. That's why the Atlanta Injury Attorneys from Montlick & Associates have issued a special public announcement to educate parents and caregivers about the recall of these specific child seats.

The recall, now at 4.2 million, is the fourth-largest child seat recall in American history. In the video posted at the top of this page, Montlick & Associates Family Safety Advocate Jacquie Palisi warns parents of the dangers posed by these child seats, many of which are still available for purchase in stores and online. The recall affects many models of Graco’s convertible and toddler booster seats, identified by the NHTSA, and were sold in stores and online from 2006 through 2014. They include:

  • 2009 through 2013 Cozy Cline
  • Comfort Sport
  • Classic Ride 50
  • My Ride 65
  • My Ride w/Safety Surround
  • My Ride 70¬†
  • Size 4 Me 70
  • Smart Seat
  • Nautilus
  • Nautilus Elite
  • Argos 70
  • Certain 2006 through 2014 models include the Argos 70 Elite
  • Ready Ride
  • Step 2
  • My Ride 65 with Safety Surround
  • My Size 70
  • Head Wise 70 with Safety Surround
  • Nautilus 3-in-1
  • Nautilus Plus
  • Smart Seat with Safety Surround
  • Others as identified at http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/childseat.cfm#mfg_anchor

The problem with the seats is that if food or dried liquid gets into the red release button in the center of the harness, it can make the buckle stick in the close position, and poses a risk to children who need to be removed quickly in an emergency. In some cases parents have had to cut harnesses to get their children out.

“We hope parents and caregivers take the steps needed to keep children safe while riding in a vehicle”, says Montlick & Associates’ Founder & CEO, David Montlick. “We hope everyone pays attention to the important recall information and requests a free replacement part immediately.”

Graco is offering a new and improved replacement harness buckle to affected customers at no cost.

The Atlanta Injury Attorneys from Montlick & Associates urges all consumers currently using one of the recalled child seats, to please contact Graco right away at:

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, is encouraging parents and caregivers to consider acquiring an alternative car seat for transporting children until their Graco seat is fixed. Another consideration is to clean you car seat buckle to free it of debris and prevent the buckle from sticking. There is a video link at the top of this page with detailed instructions on how to properly clean the buckle.
