Pedestrian Tragically Killed in Traffic Accident on Pine St. in Spartanburg, South Carolina

SPARTANBURG, SC. – According to an online news report posted at, a pedestrian was tragically killed in a traffic accident that occurred on North Pine Street in Spartanburg, South Carolina. No identifying information on the victim has been released, though the driver of the car involved has been identified.*

The accident occurred during the late afternoon on an unknown stretch of North Pine Street. No intersection or business location was named in the report, so it is not clear where precisely the collision took place. South Carolina Highway Patrol and ABC Columbia report that around 3:30 p.m., a pedestrian was walking east on the roadway and was somehow struck by an oncoming vehicle. 

The vehicle was described as a 2017 Honda SUV. The model of the Honda was not reported. It is not clear what direction the Honda was headed when the accident happened. The news report states that the pedestrian was walking “in the roadway,” but does not indicate if the person was on the side of the road, in a lane of travel, or in the process of crossing the street. Detailed information about the events of the crash was not reported. 

ABC Columbia reports that the pedestrian was seriously injured and transported to Spartanburg Regional Hospital, where the victim tragically died. The pedestrian was not identified in the news report. 

The driver of the Honda was identified as a 37-year-old woman. Her city of residence was not listed. ABC Columbia states that she was not injured in the accident. It is unclear if she was alone in the vehicle. 

South Carolina Highway Patrol Troopers are still investigating the collision. It is not clear if charges are expected. At the time the news report was posted to the ABC Columbia website, no charges had been filed in the case.
