Tragic, Fatal Car Accident on I-26 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred at around 4:30 last Thursday afternoon. The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that an 18-wheeler tractor-trailer truck was parked along the right side of Interstate-26, while another tractor-trailer truck was heading eastbound on I-26. The troopers stated that a Chevrolet pickup truck was heading eastbound and attempted to pass the second tractor-traielr truck on the right side. However, the Chevy pickup truck struck the parked semi-tractor-trailer truck in the rear. The 18-wheeler also struck the parked tractor-trailer truck.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers stated that two drivers were hurt in the collision and were transported to Spartanburg Regional Hospital. The Spartanburg County Coroner's Officer reported that the driver and passenger in the Chevrolet pickup truck were brothers. The two brothers were thrown from the pickup truck.
The driver, a 34-year-old man, was arrested and charged with felony DUI Involving Death. The passenger in the Chevrolet pickup truck tragically passed away at the accident scene. The victim was identified at the coroner's office. The fatal accident is currently under investigation.
