Car Accident on I-20 Westbound in Richland County, South Carolina

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. - A news story published on wltx.com states that the South Carolina Department of Transportation reported a severe car accident on westbound I-20 by I-77 in Richland County, South Carolina.*  

According to the South Carolina Department of Transportation, drivers were advised to find an alternate route around the accident, while emergency rescue crews worked the accident scene. 

The South Carolina Department of Transportation reported that the severe car wreck shut down all westbound traffic lanes along I-20.  The accident occurred about one mile west of Exit 76.

The traffic accident report states that no traffic cameras caught the crash on video, but two traffic cameras showed the early morning traffic gradually backing up along the interstate.  One witness provided an image of the accident.  The image showed one or two tractor-trailer trucks that sustained major accident damage.

The accident is currently under investigation.  No additional details have been made public at this time.  Witnesses of the accident should contact the South Carolina Department of Transportation to provide any helpful information about the accident.
