Pedestrian Tragically Killed on I-26 in Lexington County, South Carolina
CAYCE, S.C. - A news article published on wltx.com reports that the South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently investigating an accident that tragically killed a pedestrian.*
According to Master Trooper David Jones, the fatal pedestrian collision occurred in the westbound traffic lanes of I-26 by the I-77 Northbound exit. Master Trooper Jones reported that a Chevrolet truck was traveling westbound on I-26 when the vehicle struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian was tragically killed.
Law enforcement authorities have not explained why the pedestrian may have been on the roadway. The Lexington County Coroner's Office is in the process of identifying the victim. No criminal charges were filed at this time. The Cayce Department of Public Safety is also helped in the management of traffic. All westbound motorists were diverted onto I-77 North during the accident investigation.
