Tragic, Fatal Two-car Accident on Highway 17 Bypass by Surfside Beach

HORRY COUNTY, SC – A news report posted on wmbfnews.com states that one person was tragically killed in a two-car accident in the Surfside Beach area.*

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers, Horry County Fire Rescue crews were called out to an accident on Highway 17 Bypass by Deerfield Links Drive.  South Carolina Highway Patrol Master Trooper Brian Lee stated that a Dodge Journey SUV was attempting to turn left onto Deerfield Links Drive when the vehicle hit with a Mercedes SUV that was traveling northbound along the Highway 17 Bypass.

Master Trooper Lee reported that the Dodge Journey driver failed to yield the right of way to the Mercedes SUV.

The driver of the Dodge Journey tragically died in the accident.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently investigating the fatal accident.  No further information was provided at this time.
