Two Fatal Accidents Reported in Aiken County

WINDSOR, SOUTH CAROLINA - A news article published on wrdw.com reports that traffic accidents on Tuesday tragically killed two drivers in Aiken County, South Carolina.*  According to the Aiken County Coroner's Office, the county coroner responded to a fatal accident on Highway 78 that tragically killed a 17-year-old.

The fatal accident occurred at around 1:45 PM along Highway 78 at Cedar Branch Road close to Windsor.

A Nissan Altima was heading westbound along Highway 78 when the driver crossed over the highway's centerline, and the Nissan struck a Chevrolet truck head-on.

The driver of the Nissan was tragically pronounced dead at the accident scene.  According to the news report, the teen died from blunt-force accident injuries.  The driver of the truck was not hurt in the collision.  A toxicology analysis is pending.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently investigating the accident.  

Another fatal accident occurred at around 6:45 in the evening. The fatal collision occurred on Cope Road by State Highway 70 in Orangeburg County.  According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a Nissan car was heading eastbound along Cope Road and drove off of the roadway. The driver overcorrected, the vehicle left the roadway, and the driver overcorrected once again. The motor vehicle then overturned and collided with a utility pole. The accident is currently under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
