Teenager Tragically Killed in a Head-on Collision on U.S. 78 in Aiken County, South Carolina
SOUTH CAROLINA - According to a news report posted on thestate.com, the Aiken County Coroner's Office, reported that a teenager was tragically killed in a head-on collision.*
The teen's vehicle collided with a pickup truck along a U.S. 78. The victim, a 17-year-old female from Aiken, tragically passed away at the scene of the two-vehicle collision, Coroner Darryl Ables reported. She died of suffered blunt force injuries, according to Coroner Ables.
The head-on collision transpired at around 1:45 in the afternoon on U.S. 78 close to the intersection with Cedar Branch Road, stated South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Corporal Tyler Tidwell. The crash was in the Windsor section of Aiken County.
The victim was traveling westbound along U.S. 78 in a Nissan Altima when the vehicle drove off of the right side of the road, overcorrected, and then swerved back into the oncoming traffic lanes. The Nissan crashed into an oncoming Chevrolet pickup truck. Following the crash, the Nissan went off the road.
The driver in the Chevy survived the accident.
No other injuries were reported by Highway Patrol.
There was no explaination as to what caused the Nissan to run off the road. However, the accident is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The coroner's office stated that it is waiting for the toxicology test results.
