Tragic, Fatal Head-on Accident in Lexington County, South Carolina

SOUTH CAROLINA - A news article published on thestate.com reports that a Blythewood teenager and a Columbia woman were tragically killed Sunday morning in a head-on collision.*  According to the Lexington County Coroner's Office, a 17-year-old female was struck by an SUV that was heading in the wrong direction on Interstate 26. 

Coroner Margaret Fisher stated that the 34-year old SUV driver and the teen were tragically killed in the accident and passed away at the scene of the accident.

According to Lance Corporal Nick Pye of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the fatal accident occurred at 5:30 in the morning at mile marker 119. That's near Exit 119 on I-26, which is the junction with U.S. 21 and U.S. 176.

No other accident injuries were reported.  The fatal accident is under investigation.  The reason why the SUV was driving in the wrong direction was not made available, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the head-on collision.
