Fatal Boating Accident on Intracoastal Waterway in Hilton Head, South Carolina

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC - A news story published on wyff4 reports that a 28-year-old Myrtle Beach man died in a boating accident.*  According to law enforcement authorities, they have placed a suspect under arrest in connection with the deadly boat accident that occurred last Sunday along the Intracoastal Waterway.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources stated that the suspect was charged with boating under the influence resulting in death.  The names of those involved in the fatal drunk boater accident were not immediately available.

According to Horry County Fire Rescue, emergency crews were called out to the boating accident close to Watergate Drive at 8:23 PM.  Horry County Deputy Coroner Patty Bellamy stated that the 28-year-old man from Myrtle Beach tragically passed away as a result of the crash.  Another person in the accident was transported to a local area hospital.

According to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, the suspect was driving a 20-foot Tracker Tahoe boat and had two male and two female occupants with him at the time of the accident.  No additional information was provided.  The fatal accident and criminal investigation are ongoing.
