North Myrtle Beach Police Officer Tragically Dies in Motor Vehicle Accident
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) - According to an online fatal accident report posted on wwlp.com, a North Myrtle Beach police officer was tragically killed after an early morning crash on Highway 17 at 37th Avenue in North Myrtle Beach, Florida.* The accident occurred at approximately 4 a.m.
According to Patrick Dowling, the City of North Myrtle Beach's public information officer, a North Myrtle Beach Public Safety officer was responding to a 911 call at the Barefoot Resort when the officer lost control of his police cruiser. Mr. Dowling stated, in an emailed statement, that they are asking the public to pray for the sergeant and his family.
Mr. Dowling stated that the officer's vehicle swerved into a northbound lane and crashed into a utility pole, causing severe injuries. The officer was tragically killed during the collision. All traffic was detoured onto Ocean Boulevard. The South Carolina Highway Patrol, Multi-Disciplinary Accident Investigation Team, is currently investigating the motor vehicle accident.
