First Female Garner Police Officer Tragically Killed in an Accident in Garner, South Carolina

According to an online news report published by wral.com, the first female Garner police officer was tragically killed in a Thursday morning car accident.*

The fatal accident happened along U.S. Highway 70 near Jessup Drive in Garner, North Carolina. The victim retired from the Garner Police Department in 1999. On the Garner police's official FaceBook page, the victim was the first full-time female Garner police officer to join the department.  She was also the first female Garner police officer to retire from the department. 

Throughout her law enforcement career, she worked as a crime prevention officer, a patrol officer, and a DARE officer for both the Vance and Creech Road elementary schools, where she positively impacted hundreds of children. 

According to the Garner Police Department, the victim was well-known across the State of North Carolina for her participation in the annual Crime Prevention Fair at the Forest Hills Shopping Center. She also served as one of the founding Challenge Camp program coordinators.
