Pedestrian struck, killed on US 15 near Bennettsville, South Carolina (SC)

According to an online news report published on scnow.com, a pedestrian was fatally hit by an automobile on Thursday morning along U.S. 15 near Bennettsville, South Carolina.*

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred at approximately 4:40 a.m.  The collision occurred as the victim was walking northbound along the southbound lanes of U.S. 15.  U.S. 15 is a four-lane highway.  The accident happened on U.S. 15 near Shuford Street.  According to South Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper David Jones, the motor vehicle was traveling northbound. 

There were no other details provided about why the accident occurred, whether the driver faces criminal charges, or whether the driver was injured in the accident.  South Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper David Jones stated that the pedestrian investigation is ongoing.
