One Person Tragically Killed in an Accident on I-85 North in Anderson County, South Carolina

According to an online news report published on wspa.com, one person was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident on  I-85 North in Anderson County, South Carolina.*

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident occurred in the early morning hour along I-85 in Anderson County, South Carolina.  The accident was one of two accident that occurred in close proximity to each other and a short time after the first accident.

The first traffic accident occurred at 4:06 a.m. along I-85 by mile marker 38.  The accident occurred when the driver of a Kia Sorento drove off the left side of road, hit a median wall, and then overturned.  The second motor vehicle crash occurred a short time after the first accident and in the same area.  According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the driver of a Freight-liner truck hit a pedestrian who was laying in the road.

The motor vehicle accident investigation states that the victim who was killed was a front seat occupant in the Kia.  The victim was not wearing a seatbelt and the victim was ejected from the motor vehicle, landed in the road, and then was then hit by an 18-wheeler, according to Don McCown, the Anderson County Coroner.

Don McCown identified the victim as a 30-year-old man from Lyman.  The fatal accident investigation is being conducted by the Anderson County Office of the Coroner, the South Carolina Highway Patrol MAIT Team, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
