South Carolina Nan Charged For Causing a Fatal Tift County Accident

According to an online news report from walb.com, a person was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident early morning in Tift County, Georgia.*

According to the Georgia State Patrol, a 22-year-old woman from Dallas, Georgia, was riding in the front passenger-side seat when she was partially ejected from the motor vehicle during a serious accident.  The woman was tranported to a local area hospital to receive emergency medical treat meant for her personal injuries. The news report states that the woman did not arrive at the hospital until 90 minutes after the car accident.  The accident report stated that she was pronounced dead at the hospital. 

The Georgia State Patrol accident report states that a man was driving his 2008 Ford F-250 pickup truck southbound along Adams Road.  The report states that the man failed to maintain his traffic lane and then crashed into a ditch along the west portion of the Adams Road shoulder.

The man, who is from North Augusta, South Carolina, was arrested by the Georgia State Troopers that day.  The driver has been charged with driving under the influence, felony homicide by vehicle in the first degree, and failure to maintain lane.  The man was released from police custody after he posted a property bond.

The Georgia State Patrol accident report asserts that the man lost control over his motor vehicle when he overcorrected and drove across Adams Road, and the struck a ditch.  The report also states that that the truck overturned after making impact with the roadside ditch.  The vehicle ended up on its right side, which tragically caused fatal injuries to the victim. The Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is handling the accident investigation.
