Tragic, Fatal Wrong-way Accident in Orangeburg County, South Carolina

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol Troopers, the accident occurred at the intersection of U.S. Highway 301 and Highway 6 in Orangeburg County, South Carolina. The two-vehicle collision happened last Friday night.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers stated that a Toyota Highlander crossed over the highway's center line and was traveling in the wrong direction at approximately 10 p.m. Friday night. A few moments later, the Toyota Highlander collided head-on with a Nissan Altima. The driver of the Nissan Altima was severely injured in the collision. The driver in the Nissan Altima was tragically pronounced dead at the accident scene, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers statements.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers investigating the fatal head-on collision stated that neither drivers were wearing their seat belts during the collision. The condition of the driver in the Toyota Highlander was not disclosed. None of the names of those involved in the fatal accident were released by law enforcement and the Orangeburg County Coroner's office would be able to provide this information. This fatal collision is currently being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
