Tragic, Fatal Two-Car Accident on Highway 501 in Conway, South Carolina (SC)
CONWAY, S.C. - According to an online news report published on WPDE, an SUV driver suffered fatal injuries following a serious accident on Highway 501 in Conway, South Carolina. The accident occurred on Friday morning. Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler was able to identify the accident victim as a 19-year-old female from Conway, South Carolina.*
South Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper Brian Lee stated that the driver of the SUV was heading southbound on Highway 501 when she struck the rear-end of a truck. South Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper Lee said the truck was stopped on Highway 501 near the Sparks Toyota. Trooper Lee stated that both of the drivers were wearing seatbelts. A Horry County Fire Rescue spokesperson said the Rea-end collisions occurred at approximately 7:55 in the morning on Friday, May 22, 2020.
The tragic accident also caused a significant traffic backup on Friday morning. Law enforcement asked drivers to avoid the area as the scene was being investigated and the vehicles were moved.
