Tragic Crash in Florence County Kills One

January 29, 2020

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC- Wwaytv.com writes that a driver died in a tragic collision in Florence County, South Carolina, on Highway 301. The incident took place when the victim’s Ford Fusion veered off the roadway in the late evening and collided with a commercial vehicle that was parked on the side of the street.*

The vehicle that was parked was there legally, and nothing indicates that anyone else was injured in the crash. Police have not yet released the name of the individual who died in the wreck.

Drivers often veer off the roadway and strike objects along the side of the street. These collisions often only involve one vehicle and are the result of a mistake made by the driver. Common causes of these accidents include a driver who is drowsy, distracted, drunk, or speeding. In any of these scenarios, the motorist is at risk of losing control over his or her vehicle.

It is important for drivers to stay alert and cautious. Most deadly accidents could be avoided by careful and attentive drivers. In the event of inclement weather, drivers may need to travel at speeds even lower than a posted speed limit. Driving too fast for the road conditions means that a driver can be traveling the speed limit, but that they are still going to fast because of slick roadways, construction or heavy traffic.

In many cases, deadly run-off-the-road accidents involve drivers who were speeding because these individuals are more likely to lose control over their vehicles. Of course, the crashes that result when a speeding driver is involved are more likely to result in occupant fatalities. The faster the cars, the greater the risk of injury or death.
