Couple Tragically Dies in Car Crash that Injures their Children in Aiken County, South Carolina
AIKEN COUNTY, SC- Wrdw.com writes that two people died in a wreck in Aiken County, South Carolina, on Charleston Highway. The Coroner identified the victims as a 41-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man, both from Williston.*
Reports indicate that the woman was driving the vehicle with the man in the front seat and the two children in the back of the vehicle. The victims had their seatbelts on at the time of the collision.
The vehicle rolled over and knocked out the power for hundreds of people in the area.
Only about three percent of crashes involve a vehicle flipping over. However, these collisions are particularly deadly and lead to about one-third of all vehicle-related fatalities. While any motor vehicle has the potential to roll over under the right set of circumstances, some types of cars are more likely to roll over than others. Vehicles such as SUVs and vans are more top-heavy, and have a higher rollover risk than sedans, which are lower to the ground.
The rollover risk affiliated with light trucks, SUVs, and vans means that these types of passenger automobiles have a higher chance of being involved in deadly one-vehicle crashes than smaller cars. While the rollover risk is greater, larger cars tend to be more effective than sedans in protecting occupants in multiple-vehicle crashes.
