Deadly Vehicle Crash Reported on Hwy 22 in Conway, South Carolina

CONWAY, SC. – According to an online news article posted at, a deadly vehicle crash was reported as occurring on South Carolina Highway 22 in Conway, South Carolina. Troopers with South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the scene and reported that one man was tragically killed in the crash, according to WBTW.* 

The accident happened in the late morning at the South Carolina Highway 319 overpass on Highway 22. This is located between Conway and Aynor, South Carolina. WBTW and South Carolina Highway Patrol report that at approximately 11:30 a.m., a Ford Edge was headed eastbound on Highway 22. When the vehicle traveled under the Highway 319 overpass, it somehow ran off the roadway.

Troopers said that the vehicle left the road on the right side and subsequently crashed into a pillar supporting the bridge overhead. At the time that the WBTW report was posted online, authorities did not have information regarding what might have caused the vehicle to leave the roadway and crash. Troopers did not say whether they believed any specific events might have contributed to the wreck. No other vehicles were involved in the crash aside from the Ford. 

WBTW reports that the driver of the Ford tragically died in the crash. He was identified by the Horry County Coroner’s Office as a 71-year-old man from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. County Coroner Robert Edge said that the victim died from injuries sustained in the crash. The news report states that he was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the accident. 

In addition to South Carolina Highway Patrol and the coroner’s office, Horry County Fire Rescue responded to the scene. Investigation is still ongoing, and no additional details about the accident have yet been released to the public.
