Head-On Collision Tragically Kills One, Three Others Injured in Sumter County, South Carolina
SUMTER COUNTY, SC – According to an online news report at theitem.com, a 70-year-old man from Manning tragically died in a head-on crash that caused three others to sustain injuries.*
The accident occurred on Pinewood Road earlier this week. The 70-year-old man died in the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene, per the Sumter County coroner.
The crash happened close to Avins Road around noon time where a 1993 Chevrolet trucked crossed over the center lane as it was heading northbound on Pinewood Road. The Chevrolet then slammed into a 2016 Toyota pickup truck that was heading southbound on the roadway, per the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The 70-year-old man was a passenger in the Toyota. Both the man and the driver were properly restrained by seat belts at the time of the crash. The operator of the Chevrolet was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident and as a result, sustained serious injuries. This individual, a woman, her passenger, as well as the driver of the Toyota, were taken by medical helicopter to an area hospital.
