Woman Rushed to Hospital Via Airlift After Car Accident in Spartanburg, South Carolina

October 16, 2019

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SC- Foxcarolina.com writes that a crash took place in Spartanburg County earlier this week between a car and a massive tractor-trailer. The incident occurred on Compton Bridge Road near the intersection with Edwards Road in the early afternoon.*

The victim was traveling in a 2007 Lexus when her vehicle was struck by a 2002 Mack logging truck, which was not carrying any cargo at the time of the accident. Troopers say the woman was the only occupant of the Lexus and that she was taken to the hospital via airlift for treatment of her injuries.

The crash shut down the roadway while emergency crews responded and workers cleared the crash site.

Accidents involving trucks and passenger vehicles often lead to fatalities or severe injuries to the people in the smaller vehicle. Large trucks can crush a smaller vehicle because of the truck’s massive size. Unfortunately, tractor-trailers present certain risks when it comes to the chances of being involved in a crash as well. For instance, because of their size, trucks are difficult to maneuver and take a long time to come to a complete stop. This means that even an attentive and experienced truck driver can be left without any way to respond in a situation where another vehicle ends up unexpectedly in their path. Truck drivers are also known to be on the road for extremely long stretches of time, meaning that they might not always be at their most alert.

It is essential to use extra caution when sharing the road with large trucks and remember to give them plenty of space and to stay out of their blind spots. Whether you are at fault or not, a crash with a large truck is something you want to avoid.
