Multi-vehicle Accident on Hitchcock Parkway in Aiken, South Carolina
AIKEN, SC - A news report posted on wrdw.com is reporting that several motor vehicles were involved in a multi-vehicle accident on Wednesday morning.* The crash closed down an Aiken-area thoroughfare. The accident was reported at approximately 9:20 a.m. at Dibble Road and Hitchcock Parkway.
The Aiken Department of Public Safety states collision on Hitchcock Parkway was shut down in both directions between Rinehart Way and Dibble Street.
In the initial report of the accident, seven motor vehicles were involved in the crash. The accident occurred as heavy rainfall moved into Aiken County. The Aiken collision was the second major motor vehicle accident of the morning in the CSRA.
According to the accident report, an accident involving four-vehicles caused traffic problems on Interstate 20 eastbound and near Grovetown. The accident happened at around 7:45 a.m. by mile marker 189 west Chamblin Road.
One truck and three automobiles were involved in the accident, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation. Columbia County Sheriff's Office Major Steve Morris stated that the injuries were not life-threatening. Local traffic monitoring systems showed traffic was at a standstill for about an hour between Lewiston Road and Appling-Harlem Road. All lanes were reopened by around 9:10 a.m.
