20-Vehicle Accident Reported on I-95 in Robeson County, North Carolina

ROBESON COUNTY, NC. – According to a news story reported online at wbtw.com, a 20-vehicle accident occurred on Interstate 95 in Robeson County, North Carolina. Little information about the circumstances surrounding the accident was provided in the news story, as North Carolina State Highway Patrol is still investigating.*

The accident took place in the morning, close to U.S. Highway 301 on I-95. It is not clear on what side of the interstate the collision occurred. North Carolina State Highway Patrol and WBTW report that emergency crews were dispatched to the scene on a report of a major traffic accident involving numerous vehicles. They arrived to discover that approximately 20 vehicles had become entangled in a crash. 

The news report says that at least three of the vehicles were semi-trucks. No descriptive information was provided on any of the other vehicles. It is not clear at this time what led to the crash or what events transpired prior to the accident. Troopers did not say whether anyone was cited at the scene of the accident or whether one the drivers was believed to have been at fault in the collision. 

WBTW reports that multiple people were injured in the accident and transported by ambulances to local hospitals. It is not clear how many people were in the vehicles and how many people were injured. None of the persons involved was identified in the news story, and the extent of sustained injuries was not reported.

The crash resulted in closure of the interstate for an unspecified period of time. The closure started at Exit 33, and at the time of the report’s publishing, traffic was backed up for several miles. 

North Carolina State Highway Patrol Troopers are still looking into the accident. No further information about the crash or the investigation was included in the report.
