Wreck on U.S. 29/70 in Thomasville, North Carolina, Seriously Injures Motorcyclist

THOMASVILLE, NC. – According to a news story reported online at myfox8.com, a vehicle wreck that happened on U.S. Highway 29/70 in Thomasville, North Carolina, left a motorcyclist with serious injuries. The cause of the accident is still under investigation, and it is not yet clear if charges will be filed.*

The collision took place during the evening at the crossing of Old Highway 29 with U.S. 29/70. The Thomasville Police Department and Fox 8 report that shortly before 9 p.m., a 2016 Toyota 4Runner was traveling on Litwin Drive toward U.S. 29/70. At the intersection with the highway, the Toyota driver attempted to cross all the lanes to reach Old Highway 29. 

Police officers say that in crossing over the highway, the Toyota entered the path of an oncoming 1998 Honda motorcycle. The front of the motorcycle, which had been traveling east on U.S. 29/70, then crashed into the passenger’s side of the Toyota. It is not yet clear what events led to the accident or why the Toyota driver traveled in front of the motorcycle. Authorities are still looking into the circumstances of the case to determine what happened. 

Fox 8 reports that the motorcyclist was injured in the accident, and emergency crews took him to Wake Baptist Hospital for treatment. He was identified as a 41-year-old man from Thomasville. Fox 8 indicates that his injuries were severe, but he was reported to be in stable condition at the hospital.

The news report does not provide identifying information on the Toyota driver. Fox 8 says that he or she was not injured in the accident. Police officers have not yet completed their investigation of the collision and have not said if charges are anticipated in the case. No additional information was included in the report from Fox 8.
