Man Tragically Killed in Accident at Charlotte, North Carolina Store

CHARLOTTE, NC. – According to a news report posted online at, a man was tragically killed in an accident that took place at a store in Charlotte, North Carolina. The details of the incident are not completely clear at this time, and the victim has not been identified by investigating officials.*

The accident happened during the afternoon at a place of business located on Westinghouse Boulevard, close to Brookford Street in Charlotte. The news report indicates that the business sells granite slabs. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and CBS 17 report that around 3:30 p.m., a man was inside the store, when a piece of stone fell on top of him. 

The report says the man was a customer, and the stone was merchandise in the store. The name of the store was not reported, and the circumstances of the accident were not reported in detail. It is unclear how the stone came to fall on the man or what events led up to the incident. 

CBS 17 reports that emergency responders were called to the store, including police and firefighters, and the man tragically died at the scene. His age and city of residence were not provided in the report. 

Police are continuing to look into the accident, and the report says that the North Carolina Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will be investigating the incident, as well. OSHA will be reviewing the facts of the incident to determine whether any safety procedures, protocols, or regulations were violated in the course of the accident. No information in the news report indicated that safety violations were immediately suspected. It is unclear how long the investigations will take to complete.
