September 23, 2019

RALEIGH, NC. – According to a news report posted online at cbs17.com, a van and a dump truck collided on U.S. Highway 401 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Limited information regarding the accident has so far been released by investigators, and it is not clear if anyone was injured in the wreck.*

The accident occurred sometime in the afternoon, near the south campus for Wake Tech in the 9100 block of Fayetteville Road. North Carolina State Highway Patrol and CBS 17 report that emergency crews were called to the site on a report about a traffic collision. Authorities arrived at the scene on the northbound side of the highway and found that a van and a dump truck were somehow involved in a crash.

The circumstances leading to and surrounding the accident were not described in the report. It is not clear how the vehicles came to collide or what might have caused the crash. The report did not say if the van was a cargo or passenger van, and the make and model of the van were not provided in the report. The company affiliated with the dump truck was also not named in the report.

CBS 17 did not say how many people were riding in the two vehicles or if anyone was injured in the accident. No one involved in the crash was identified by officials at the scene. It is unclear if paramedics responded or if anyone needed to be transported to a hospital.

The collision caused the northbound lanes of U.S. 401 to close down, beginning at Old McCullers Road. The report indicates that the North Carolina Department of Transportation said the roadway was open again shortly before 7 p.m. that day. North Carolina State Highway Patrol is still investigating the wreck.
