September 23, 2019

GREENSBORO, NC. – According to an online news report published at abc11.com, a North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University student was struck by a car on East Market Street in Greensboro, North Carolina. The student was critically injured in the accident, according to the report.*

The accident happened sometime in the morning at an unknown point on East Market Street. An intersection or building in the area was not named in the report, so it is unclear where specifically the accident took place. The Greensboro Police Department and ABC 11 report that a pedestrian was walking in the area and was somehow hit by a vehicle that had been traveling east on the roadway.

The vehicle was described as a 1994 Acura Integra RS. The report indicated that the pedestrian entered the roadway outside of a crosswalk but did not say if a crosswalk was available anywhere nearby. It is unclear what events led to the accident or who had the right-of-way prior to the collision. Police officers did not immediately say whether one of the parties involved was at fault in the accident.

ABC 11 reports that the pedestrian was injured in the crash, and emergency crews took her to Moses Cone Hospital for treatment. She was identified as a 21-year-old woman from Raleigh, North Carolina. The report said she was a student at NC A&T majoring in biological engineering. Her injuries are said to be life-threatening.

Officials identified the driver of the Acura as a 31-year-old man from Greensboro. The report did not say whether he was injured. The Greensboro Police Department is still investigating the accident, and officers had not released further information at the time of the ABC 11 report’s posting online. It is not yet clear if charges are expected to be filed.
