Pedestrian Tragically Dies Following Traffic Accident on Wendover Ave. in Greensboro, North Carolina

GREENSBORO, NC. – According to a news report published online at myfox8.com, a pedestrian tragically died following a traffic accident that occurred on West Wendover Avenue in Greensboro, North Carolina. It is not yet clear how the accident happened, and authorities are still in the midst of investigating.*

The collision happened during the late afternoon, near to the crossing of Edwardia Drive and West Wendover Avenue. The Greensboro Police Department and Fox 8 report that at about 3:15 p.m., a pedestrian was attempting to cross West Wendover and was struck by a 2013 Toyota Tundra pickup truck. 

It is unclear in what direction the pedestrian was trying to cross the road, and the report does not say whether he was walking inside a marked crosswalk at the time. It is also not clear what direction the Toyota had been traveling prior to the crash. The report does not provide information about the events transpiring before the accident or the factors that could have played a role in the collision. Investigators did not say who had the right-of-way at the time of the collision. 

Fox 8 reports that the pedestrian was critically injured in the crash, and paramedics took him to Moses Cone Hospital, where he tragically died. The report identified the victim as a 76-year-old man from Danville, North Carolina. 

The news report identified the driver of the Toyota as a 64-year-old man from Greensboro. It is unclear if he sustained any injuries in the accident or if he was the only person in the truck when the accident took place. 

Police officers are still completing their investigation of the collision, and at the time that the Fox 8 report was published online, they had not said if charges were expected. No additional information was included in the report.
