Driver Fatally Hits Pedestrian on Branchview Dr. in Concord, North Carolina

CONCORD, NC. – According to an online news report posted at fox46charlotte.com, a driver fatally hit a pedestrian on Branchview Drive in Concord, North Carolina. The cause of the accident is not yet clear, and police are still investigating to determine what happened and whether charges are appropriate.* 

The collision took place in the morning at the intersection of Cabarrus Avenue E with Branchview Drive NE. The Concord Police Department and Fox 46 report that shortly after 7 a.m., a pedestrian was trying to walk across the road at the intersection and was struck by a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer that had been traveling south on Branchview Drive. It is unclear what direction the pedestrian was walking. 

The report did not say if the pedestrian was walking inside a crosswalk at the time, and it is not clear if the pedestrian or the Chevy had the right-of-way when the accident occurred. The cause of the crash is still not known, as investigators are continuing to review the events of the collision. 

Fox 46 reports that the pedestrian was fatally injured in the accident, and he was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The news report identified him as a 61-year-old man from Concord. 

The driver of the Chevy was identified in the report as a female. Her age and hometown were not included in the news story. Fox 46 states that she was not injured in the collision. It is not clear if any passengers were in her vehicle at the time. 

The Concord Public Safety Unit is managing the accident investigation, which the report says is still ongoing. It was not clear at the time of the report’s publishing if charges were expected to be pursued in the case. No further information about the collision was included in the news report.
