Man Fatally Hit by SUV on Hwy 24 in Pedestrian Accident in Carteret County, North Carolina

CARTERET COUNTY, NC. – According to an online news report posted at witn.com, a man was fatally hit by an SUV on Highway 24 in Carteret County, North Carolina. Little information about the accident was provided in the news report, and North Carolina State Highway Patrol is still in the early stages of investigating the case.* 

The collision happened during the evening, close to Gull Harbor Road on Highway 24. North Carolina State Highway Patrol and WITN report that a pedestrian was walking in the area and was somehow struck by a passing SUV. The make and model of the SUV were not listed in the report, nor was the direction that the SUV had been traveling at the time of the accident. 

It is not clear where the pedestrian had been walking, but the report indicates that he was not inside of a crosswalk. The news story did not say if he was trying to cross the highway or if he was walking inside a lane of travel when the accident happened. Troopers are still investigating the events surrounding the accident. 

WITN reports that the pedestrian was critically injured and tragically died at the scene of the collision. He was identified in the report only as a male. No other information about him, including his age and hometown, was listed in the news story. 

No identifying information about the driver of the SUV was included in the report. It is unclear how many people were riding in the SUV or if anyone in the vehicle sustained injuries.
