Newberry County Motorcycle Accident With Multiple Injuries
NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. - A news article published on wltx.com reports that law enforcement authorities reported on a severe motor vehicle accident along I-26 in Newberry County, South Carolina.* The accident backed up traffic for several hours.
Newberry County Sheriff Lee Foster stated that the major accident occurred at Mile Marker 83 on I-26. Sheriff Foster reported to News19 that the motor vehicle accident included a motorcycle and many passenger cars. The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that two motorcyclists were tragically killed in the collision.
Corporal Joel Hovis stated that the motorcyclist was changing lanes to avoid hitting slower vehicles that were up ahead but tragically struck another motor vehicle. The motorcycle was then hit by a third vehicle, and the riders were thrown off of the motorcycle.
The fatal motorcycle accident is currently under investigation by law enforcement officers. No further details were provided at this time.
