Severe Pedestrian Accident Cancels High School Football Game in Wilmington, North Carolina

WILMINGTON - A news article published on delawareonline.com reports that a high school football game at the Abessinio Stadium was canceled following a severe accident outside the stadium prior to the game.*

According to Captain John McDerby with the Delaware Natural Resources Police, the severe accident occurred in the stadium's parking lot and involved several pedestrians who were going to the game.

Captain John McDerby reported that two people were injured in the pedestrian accident.  One victim was evacuated in a helicopter by the Delaware State Police, Captain McDerby stated. 

At the time of this article, there were no updates concerning the victims' injuries.  The Delaware Natural Resources Police are heading up the accident investigation since the accident scene falls under their jurisdiction.  The Wilmington Police Department is aiding in the investigation.
