According to law enforcement officers, a North Carolina woman is currently facing criminal charges concerning the fatal accident.
The Savannah Police Department stated that at around 9 PM, the 38-year-old female driver from Gandy, North Carolina, was traveling southbound along Dean Forest Road with a 1-year-old occupant. For some unknown reason, the woman's SUV entered the northbound lanes and struck a pickup truck driven by a man head-on. The man was tragically killed in the accident as a result of his accident-related injuries.
The Savannah Police Department stated that the 1-year-old was not harmed in the accident, but the driver was transported to a local area hospital for medical treatment of non-life-threatening accident injuries.
According to the Savannah Police Department, when she is released from the hospital, the woman driver will be arrested and booked into the Chatham County jail.
